Bombing, prison, torture, and starvation are weapons used by the Israeli forces to perpetrate the genocide of the Palestinian people. Israel’s escalating attacks and aid blockade in Gaza must end immediately. In face of the terror, the complicit silence, and the absence of firm action by governments and multilateral organizations to put an end to the genocide, grassroots movements have been organizing actions of international solidarity and political pressure.
One of these actions is the land convoy of grassroots movements that are part of La Via Campesina, setting off from the Maghreb with more than 3,000 vehicles driving more than 7,000 activists from the region. The overland “As-Soumoud” (“Steadfastness”) Convoy to break the siege on Gaza departed from Tunis, capital of Tunisia, on the morning of Monday, June 9th, 2025, under the slogan: “The chains must be broken.” The convoy is traveling through Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt, with the goal of reaching the Rafah crossing, the movements reported.
Meanwhile, other actions are also happening, including the Global March to Gaza and the Freedom Flotilla. The kidnapping, deportation, and incarceration of the members of the Flotilla mission, and the seizure of the humanitarian aid they were carrying, are yet another show of Israel’s war crimes. The symbolic and massive demonstrations that are rising in different parts of the world must become stronger until a true ceasefire comes into effect.
